The Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao will host the first Euskadi Engineering and Industry Awards on October 22, 2026. This event aims to recognize and value talent, professional excellence, and the contribution of engineering and industry to the region's development. The gala will serve as a meeting point for professionals, companies, and stakeholders in the sector from 18:00 to 22:00.
Three awards will be presented in this inaugural edition: the Engineer of the Year Award, recognizing outstanding professional careers and contributions to society and the profession; the Best Engineering Project Award, focusing on the quality, innovation, sustainability, and value of projects; and the Emerging Talent in Engineering Award, aimed at recognizing innovative initiatives and the talent of young professionals and startups.
The gala will also serve as a platform for reflection on the future of engineering and industry. The Industrial Engineering Colleges of Álava, Bizkaia, and Gipuzkoa will bring together three leading voices from the business, technological, and academic spheres in Bilbao to discuss future challenges. Under the title "Engineering facing the future: AI, industry, and talent to tackle new challenges", the discussion will explore how artificial intelligence, industrial transformation, and talent evolution are redefining the sector.
Participants in the panel discussion include Alexander Artetxe, President and CEO of Arteche; Jesús Valero, General Director of TECNALIA Research & Innovation; and Naiara Ortega, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the EHU. The conversation will be moderated by Aloña Velasco, a journalist from Cadena SER Euskadi and the gala's presenter.
The program includes: doors open at 18:00, gala start and welcome at 18:30, institutional opening at 18:40, awards ceremony at 18:45, special presentation at 19:25, closing at 20:00, and a cocktail and networking session from 20:00 to 22:00. The event aims to recognize talent and experiences, as well as foster connections among professionals, companies, and institutions.
Attendance is free, but as capacity is limited, pre-registration is required via the Ingeniariak website. The event is supported by Grupo CajaIngenieros, Diputación Foral de Bizkaia, and Grupo SPRI.
