The creation of new companies in Euskadi surged by 29.6% in February year-on-year, with a total of 403 commercial companies established, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), marking the second-best February in the historical series.

This rise in February means that company creation in the Basque Country has moved out of the negative figures recorded the previous month. For the establishment of the 403 new companies, just over 29.39 million euros were subscribed, which is 27.81% less than in the same month a year ago.
By historical territories, almost half of the new commercial companies were created in Bizkaia, totaling 198 (one of which was a public limited company). In Gipuzkoa, 138 companies were formed (three of them public limited companies), and in Álava, 67.
Regarding capital, although Bizkaia accounted for the majority of new companies, Gipuzkoa saw the largest capital outlay, totaling 22.54 million euros. In Bizkaia, the figure was 5.76 million, and in Álava, 1.08 million.
Furthermore, of the 141 companies dissolved last February in Euskadi, 120 did so voluntarily; 11 due to merger with other companies, and the remaining 10 for other reasons. Company dissolutions decreased by 25.8%.
On the other hand, the number of commercial companies that increased their capital in Euskadi rose by 2.6% in February, reaching 120 companies. The capital subscribed in these increases amounted to 287.46 million euros, a figure 55.5% higher than in February of the previous year.
