The Lurgintza headquarters in Azpeitia will host an open meeting on June 4th to inform mountain water users about the new control measures and fees established by the Basque Water Agency.

Organized by the EHNE Gipuzkoa union, the meeting will take place this Thursday at 18:30. The goal is to provide detailed information regarding the new regulatory requirements and to seek potential legal solutions for the affected parties.
The new regulations mandate the installation and maintenance of individual water meters, the reporting of consumption data, the performance of health reports, and the payment of a water usage fee. These requirements have been met with significant concern by rural residents.
Union representatives emphasize that the infrastructure used to transport water from mountain springs to homes was built by the residents themselves over generations, without any public financial support, leading them to view the new measures as excessive.

"We are currently analyzing with our legal team whether it is possible to use alternative systems instead of meters, as permitted by certain provisions of the regulation."
