During the meeting, the reality of Aiaraldea's industrial sector was presented, emphasizing the importance of maintaining employment and industrial activity in the region. The meeting was described as “productive,” and a commitment was secured to continue collaborating with European institutions to ensure the industrial future of the area.
“"Neither Aiaraldea nor Europe can afford to lose this industrial muscle."
The current situation of Tubos Reunidos was detailed at the meeting, highlighting the need to preserve jobs and guarantee the continuity of a fundamental industry. As a result, a commitment was obtained to analyze and follow up on the lines of work proposed in recent months.
These lines of work focus on three main areas: debt and tariffs, to explore possible aid to mitigate their impact on the sector; the energy sector, where measures to support industry in an unstable international context are proposed for review; and industrial transition and future, suggesting that Aiaraldea and Euskadi become European pilot projects for industrial transformation and progress in decarbonization.
Finally, the mayor of Amurrio stressed the importance of continuing to work hand in hand with European institutions to address the challenges of the industrial sector and ensure a solid future for Aiaraldea, strengthening its competitiveness and adaptability in a changing global context.
