This investment aims to adapt the railway infrastructure to current and future needs, thereby enhancing the reliability of the facilities. The tendered supply specifies the type of material to be provided, including its transport and unloading at the construction sites.
Last March, a 16.6 million euro contract was awarded for the execution of track improvement works on this same stretch, in addition to the necessary supplies for their completion.
The works plan includes the replacement of materials at various points along the route, in stations, and along the line's margins. Concurrently, electrification, safety system, and communication works will also be carried out.
Furthermore, Adif is also undertaking track renovation works, replacing rails and sleepers, in various northern sections between Cortes de Navarra-Castejón de Ebro, Castejón de Ebro-Tafalla, and Castejón de Ebro-Fuenmayor, on the conventional network running through the communities of Navarra and La Rioja, with an investment of 60 million euros plus 35 million euros for materials.
All these works are part of the Northern zone's infrastructure and track treatment plan, which will improve the route, address detected needs, and promote line conservation. The project contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), which aims to develop reliable, sustainable, resilient, and quality infrastructure.
