The province of Cádiz has managed to drop its unemployment rate below the 100,000 jobless threshold during the month of June. A total of 3,933 people have left the unemployment lists, placing the province at the forefront of decreases in Spain, both in absolute and relative terms. This achievement is accompanied by another significant milestone: a record in Social Security affiliation, with 449,905 contributors.
With 99,054 people registered as unemployed in the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE), the departure of nearly 4,000 unemployed individuals represents a decrease of 3.82 points compared to the previous month. Cádiz thus positions itself as the Spanish province most benefiting from the reactivation of beach tourism and the hospitality sector, key pillars of its labor market. This improvement significantly surpasses the Andalusian average (-2.12 points) and the state average (-1.24).
The year-on-year comparison is also positive, with a reduction in unemployment of 12,574 people over the last year, representing a variation of 11.26%. In Andalusia, only Seville (-13,152) exceeds this figure in absolute terms, while in relative terms, Huelva (-14.46%), Jaén (-12.57%), and Córdoba (-12.20%) show greater decreases.
The services sector, heavily influenced by tourism cycles, accounts for the largest reduction in unemployed individuals with 3,019 fewer, standing at 69,498. This is followed by the group of people with no prior employment (-480), industry (-183), construction (-170), and agriculture (-79).
Regarding Social Security affiliation, Cádiz has reached a new record in June with 449,905 contributors, marking an increase of 7,402 affiliated individuals in a single month. Compared to the previous year, the figure has grown by 12,357 people.
