The General Industrial Production Index (IPI) in the Valencian Community experienced a year-on-year decline of 0.8% in June. This figure represents a difference of 4.6 percentage points compared to the national average, which, conversely, saw an increase of 3.8% in the same period. These data were recently published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Nationally, industrial production rose by 3.8% in June, marking the most significant growth since April and extending a streak of four consecutive months of increases. This rise was primarily driven by advances in the production of intermediate goods (+5.7%), energy (+4.6%), capital goods (+3.1%), and non-durable consumer goods (+1.8%). Only durable consumer goods saw a slight decrease of 0.5%.
Year-to-date, Valencian industrial production has accumulated a reduction of 1.6%, while the national average shows a slight increase of 1.1%.
Breaking down by economic destination in the Valencian Community, consumer goods fell by 3% (0.7% for durables and 3.3% for non-durables). Capital goods decreased by 1.9%, intermediate goods increased by 1.2%, and energy goods fell by 1.2%.
When considering the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, industrial production in Spain rose by 1.1% year-on-year in June, a rate lower than that of May. In monthly terms, industrial production decreased by 0.7% compared to May.
