The San Juan de Dios Hospital in Seville has incorporated the Mako SmartRobotics robotic surgery system, becoming the first center in the province and a pioneer in Andalusia to apply this technology for knee and hip prostheses.

The hospital, located in the Nervión neighborhood, introduces this innovation to optimize surgical procedures and provide more individualized care for patients suffering from knee and hip osteoarthritis.
Stryker's Mako SmartRobotics™ system enables detailed three-dimensional planning based on a CT scan, adapting the intervention strategy to each patient's specific anatomy. During surgery, the robotic arm assists the specialist, maintaining precision within defined limits and ensuring procedural safety.
Dr. Miguel Villa, coordinator of the Orthopedic and Traumatology Surgery Service, highlights that the technology allows for the transfer of individualized planning to the operating room with a robotic assistance tool, ensuring a high level of precision guided by professional judgment.
