The rector of the UMH, Juan José Ruiz, and the General Director of Global Omnium, Vicente Fajardo, have signed the agreement establishing this new chair. The co-directors will be, on behalf of the university, the professor of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry José Navarro Pedreño, and on behalf of the company, the Director of Innovation at Global Omnium, Marian Serrano Sánchez.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice-Rector for Economy and Society of the UMH, María José López; the Vice-Rector for Students and Coordination, José Juan López; members of the Chair's Advisory Council; as well as representatives from Global Omnium.
The Chair's main objectives include training, research, and development in the areas of the Integral Water Cycle, water quality, public health, environmental and animal health, industrial and reclaimed water, and water treatment technologies. To achieve this, training and research activities will be carried out, along with the organization of seminars and conferences.
Beyond the Chair's specific activities, the alliance between Global Omnium and the UMH encompasses the development of new joint initiatives. These include the creation of university micro-credentials, other specialized training actions, and dissemination and knowledge transfer activities to strengthen ties between both entities and open new avenues for cooperation.
