This initiative, affiliated with the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, primarily aims to support local councils in hiring personnel to reduce the impact of seasonal inactivity in the agricultural sector. The funds will be distributed among Almassora, Almenara, Les Alqueries, Artana, Betxí, Burriana, Castelló de la Plana, Chóvar, La Llosa, Moncofa, Nules, Onda, La Vall d'Uixó, Vila-real, La Vilavella, and Xilxes.
The allocation of these credits was recently approved by the Provincial Monitoring Commission of the program, chaired by the sub-delegate of the Government in Castellón, Antonia García Valls. During the meeting, the results of the 2025 edition were also presented, which García Valls described as “good results.”
“"Thanks to the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program, a level of income can be guaranteed during periods of inactivity for people working in this sector, while also promoting local development through the execution of works and actions to adapt and improve agricultural infrastructures in the municipalities most affected by so-called agricultural unemployment."
In the 2025 fiscal year, the program achieved a 96.75% execution rate of planned works, two points higher than the previous year. Furthermore, it enabled the hiring of 492 people, of whom 105 were women, and 36 actions were carried out. The Profea is crucial for promoting local development actions that sustainably adapt to the rural environment, complementing land use from both a social and economic perspective.
