The Port Authority of València (APV) recorded its second best March in history, with a significant increase in goods traffic, primarily driven by trade with China.

The facilities of the València port handled a total of 7,016,806 tons of goods during March, representing a 5.23% increase compared to the previous year. In terms of containers, 479,873 TEUs were moved, an 11.6% rise from the same period in 2026, as reported by the APV.
This growth occurs amidst international trade challenges, such as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Increasing traffic with China has been crucial in offsetting the decline in operations with the United States.
In the first quarter of the year, the ports of València, Sagunto, and Gandia managed 18,675,690 tons of goods, with a slight decrease of 3.31%. However, container traffic increased by 1.40%, reaching 1,312,842 TEUs.
Container traffic with Chinese ports saw a remarkable increase of 30.56%, reaching 235,903 units. Conversely, operations with the United States decreased by 20.65%. Increases were also recorded with Brazil (+10.23%), Morocco (+19.09%), and Vietnam (+23.2%).
Regarding the economic balance, the port's operating profit surged by 27.32% in the first quarter, rising from 8.43 million to 10.73 million euros, mainly due to cost containment.
The APV Board of Directors approved several concession modifications, including an expansion of surface area in the northern extension of the Port of València for Valencia North Terminal and an extension of a concession to a company for the installation of an electric power plant to connect vessels to the docks.
