The Industrialized Construction Cluster of the Valencian Community, managed by the Valencian Institute of Building, has commenced its activities with the inaugural meeting of its working group to boost the sector.

Construction in Spain, particularly for housing and public facilities in healthcare and education, shows low competitiveness according to official data. This situation is compounded by the difficulty in finding skilled labor and a structural delay in implementing more efficient and sustainable construction systems.

"The challenge is to address the low productivity situation suffered by the construction sector in Spain to reach European standards. Industrialization is present in the strategic plans of all administrations because, truthfully, in Spain we are still in our infancy compared to the rest of the EU in this matter."

Prefabricated and industrialized construction has not yet definitively arrived in our country, and the support of involved productive and professional sectors is considered necessary. In this regard, it is deemed essential to adapt the structures of professional organizations to new market demands and to deepen sustainability and industrialization policies within the profession.
Regarding housing, Valencian architects face new scenarios within the national framework, such as the Perte or Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of Housing Industrialization, the Housing Plan approved by the Council of Ministers, and the Generalitat's VIVE Plan. It is proposed to transform the College of Architects into a center for innovation and knowledge generation, fostering reflection and the application of Artificial Intelligence in architecture.
The Industrialized Construction Cluster is presented as a key tool to combat the housing deficit. Industrialization is seen as a response to the housing emergency, offering a solution to the shortage of affordable housing through faster and larger-scale production.
With the industrialization of housing construction, it is expected to reduce building times by 20% to 60%, enhance the quality of building and architecture, promote sustainability and energy efficiency, improve worker conditions and occupational safety, boost the inclusion of women, and ultimately, increase productivity.
