The German multinational Bauhaus will hold the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for its future store in Torrevieja on April 16. This project, located in the La Hoya sector, is expected to create over 250 jobs.

This event, scheduled for 12:45 PM in the La Hoya industrial park, will be attended by the city's mayor, Eduardo Dolón, and the CEO of Bauhaus Spain, Bart Ginneberge. During the ceremony, the symbolic gesture marking the official start of the project will take place, and statements will be offered to the media regarding the economic impact and the company's commitment to the Valencian Community.
The new Bauhaus establishment will be the company's third center in the Valencian Community and is expected to boost local economic activity by generating more than 250 jobs, both direct and indirect. The plot, spanning 40,000 square meters, will have a buildable area of approximately 18,000 square meters.
The implementation of Bauhaus in Torrevieja has been a complex administrative process that has lasted almost a decade. The major building permit was initially granted by the City Council in August 2024, but had to be reissued after a challenge from competitor Leroy Merlin, which alleged the omission of the public exhibition process. A court upheld the appeal, forcing the restart of the file.
After rectifying the procedure and completing the public exhibition, the council re-authorized the project. Despite a new contentious administrative appeal filed by Leroy Merlin, without requesting precautionary measures, the project can continue its development while the dispute is resolved. The center will be located in sector 20 of La Hoya, next to the CV-905 road, in an area undergoing urbanization with plans for more than 7,000 homes and a commercial strip of 100,000 square meters, where other projects such as two supermarkets, one of them from the Consum chain, have already been authorized.
