International tourist spending in the Community of Madrid saw a notable growth of 11.4% in the first six months of 2026, reaching 10,007 million euros, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Despite a slight 1.43% drop in hotel overnight stays in July compared to 2025, totaling 2.29 million, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sport for the Community of Madrid, Mariano de Paco, described the region's tourism balance as "absolutely positive".
INE data reveals that 1,139,288 travelers stayed in Madrid hotels in July, a 3.38% decrease from the previous year. Of these, 504,321 were domestic and 634,966 were foreign, with an average stay of 2.02 nights.
However, De Paco emphasized that "the important thing is that tourist spending continues to increase." In the capital, international tourist spending reached 10,007 million euros in the first half of 2026, an increase of 11.4% compared to the 8,980 million in the same period of 2025.
The minister stressed that the Community of Madrid's tourism model is "orderly" and does not cause problems for residents. Although August has not yet concluded, he expressed confidence that the overall summer season balance will be "absolutely positive," stating that "the data will prove us right."
