This funding, approved at the Sectoral Conference on Agriculture and Rural Development, accounts for 4.37% of the 226.4 million euros distributed among all autonomous communities. The resources will be channeled through various lines of action, including rural development, promotion of beekeeping, improvement of plant variety quality, certification of reproductive materials, support for native breeds, dairy yield control, and school programs for fruits, vegetables, and milk.
The largest portion of the investment, 3.8 million euros, will be allocated to rural development. This amount represents 2.4% of the more than 158 million euros approved nationwide for this line, which aims to enhance sector competitiveness, ensure sustainable resource management, strengthen climate change response, and foster balanced territorial development. Although the agricultural weight in Madrid is smaller compared to other regions, these funds are crucial for maintaining activity, consolidating the productive fabric, and supporting farms operating under urban pressure and rising land costs.
Additionally, Madrid will receive 22,000 euros for the promotion of beekeeping, out of a total of over 4.5 million euros allocated for this purpose across the country. This allocation is based on the number of registered beehives and will fund surveillance against aggressions and diseases affecting bees, which are essential for pollination and the balance of agricultural ecosystems. Funds will also be directed towards the quality of plant varieties and the certification of reproductive materials, with 1.2 million euros for Spain, seeking to improve regional agricultural production.
Finally, native livestock breeds and dairy yield control will be promoted to strengthen the competitiveness of Madrid's livestock sector. School programs for fruits, vegetables, and milk will complete the allocation, aiming to foster healthy consumption habits among primary school students throughout the region.
