The Madrid City Council has launched a new subsidy call worth €250,000 aimed at promoting and developing social economy projects within the capital.

The council's Department of Economy, Innovation, and Finance has published the guidelines for this initiative, which seeks to strengthen the social economy fabric in the city. The grants will be distributed across various lines to support both the creation of new entities and their consolidation and growth.
One funding stream offers up to €10,000 for recently established social economy entities focused on generational succession. Applications for these grants will be accepted until June 22.
Additionally, up to €20,000 will be allocated for the growth of existing entities, encouraging their integration into second or higher-tier cooperatives, the establishment of new cooperatives of this nature, as well as the formation of cooperative groups and inter-cooperative agreements. The maximum grant amount per applicant entity could reach €30,000.
Finally, social economy entities established between March 2025 and February 2026 will receive €5,000 in aid to support their initial operational stages.
This call marks the second initiative by the Madrid City Council in favor of the social economy in 2026, bringing the total allocated to sector projects to €1.35 million, a 50% increase compared to the previous year. These actions are carried out in collaboration with representative sector associations such as ASALMA, FECOMA, COOPERAMA, and AMEI.

"To support generational succession, as well as to foster the creation of new social economy entities, leveraging their great capacity to maintain and generate activity and employment."
