When an elderly person begins to need help at home, many families know they have a problem, but not necessarily the best way to solve it. From Alcorcón, Ayudare Elderly Care has developed a model that starts by understanding each situation before proposing the service: listening to the family, assessing the person's needs, and explaining the different available alternatives.
When finding a caregiver is just the beginning
A fall, a hospitalization, a worsening of mobility, or simply the feeling that a father or mother is no longer coping as before. The moment a family starts considering home help can come gradually or appear almost overnight.
From there, many questions arise: how many hours of support are needed, whether to opt for an hourly caregiver or a live-in one, who should hire them, what happens during holidays, what alternatives exist in situations of dependency, or how to use a benefit recognized by the Community of Madrid.
For
Ayudare Elderly Care, a company based in
Alcorcón, answering those questions is part of the service itself.
“"Our work doesn't start by looking for a caregiver; it starts by understanding what the person and their family truly need."
First understand; then organize care
Ayudare starts from a simple idea: two families requesting apparently the same number of hours may need completely different solutions.
A person may need support for personal hygiene and daily tasks for a few hours a day. Another may require continuous supervision. In other cases, the main problem is companionship, meal preparation, or that the children live far away and need someone to help them organize care.
That's why the company's first contact aims to understand the situation before making a proposal.
“Many families call us saying, ‘I need a caregiver.’ But behind that phrase, there can be very different needs. Before talking about prices or hours, we try to understand what is happening and what solution might be appropriate and sustainable for that family,” explains Carlos Steinkopf, director of Ayudare.
When appropriate, this initial guidance can be supplemented with an in-home assessment, especially in areas close to the company's headquarters.
There is no single way to organize care
One of the characteristics of the Ayudare model is the ability to work with different formulas depending on each family's needs.
On one hand, the company directly provides professional home help services, organizing and supervising the care provided by its own staff.
But there are families—for example, when many hours of care or a live-in caregiver are needed—for whom it may be more appropriate to hire the professional directly at home. In these cases, Ayudare can handle the selection of the caregiver and support the family in organizing and managing the service.
There are also situations where both alternatives can be combined, allowing care to be better adapted to the specific care, family, and financial needs of each case.
“We try to explain the advantages, limitations, and costs of each option. Then, the family decides with more information. The solution that includes more hours or involves a higher cost is not always necessarily the best,” notes Steinkopf.
Dependency and service vouchers: another frequent source of doubt
The situation can become even more complex when a person has a recognized degree of dependency or is initiating the process to apply for one.
Ayudare works with families who have the Economic Benefit Linked to Service (PEVS), commonly known as a service voucher, to finance part of the home care when this resource is part of the recognized solution for the dependent person.
Knowledge of this system allows guiding families on how the benefit can fit into the actual organization of care, without in any way replacing the role of social services or the Administration.
“Often, the family receives a resolution and knows the amount they have been granted, but they don't quite know how to turn that into a service that works in their home. Our job is to help them understand the alternatives they have from there,” explains the director of Ayudare.
Proximity as part of the service
Ayudare's operations center is in Alcorcón, from where the company primarily provides services in various municipalities in the south and west of Madrid.
Alcorcón, Móstoles, Leganés, and Fuenlabrada form a particularly natural part of its service area, along with other nearby municipalities where the company can organize services based on the needs of each case.
Proximity allows for maintaining a direct relationship with certain families, conducting in-home assessments when appropriate, and gaining firsthand knowledge of the specific characteristics of the area where the service is provided.
A local company versus increasingly digitized models
The care sector has incorporated new platforms, national operators, and online hiring systems in recent years. Ayudare also uses digital tools but has chosen to maintain personal contact as a central part of its offering.
A family might find the company through Google or make initial contact via the internet or WhatsApp, but behind that inquiry are people who understand the case and subsequently participate in organizing and monitoring the service.
From its Alcorcón office, family care, professional selection, and service monitoring are coordinated.
A digital trajectory now consolidated under Ayudare
A significant part of the company's digital journey has been developed around Elderly Care, the name under which numerous users have found its services online over the years, accumulating much of its online presence.
This experience and recognition are now progressively integrated under Ayudare Elderly Care, the name with which the company aims to strengthen its identity and presence in Alcorcón and southern Madrid.
Caring also means helping to make decisions
Caring for an elderly person rarely consists solely of covering a certain number of hours. Behind it, there is usually a family that needs to reorganize routines, coordinate siblings, make financial decisions, understand benefits, select a caregiver, and often do so during an emotionally challenging time.
Ayudare aims to position itself precisely in this space: not just as a provider of care hours, but as a company capable of supporting the family from the initial question to the organization of a stable solution.
“"It's not about selling more hours of care, but about finding a way of caring that works for the person and also for their family."
