The La Esfera Municipal Center in Alcobendas hosted a groundbreaking event: the first Conference on New Technologies Applied to Drones. This unprecedented gathering, organized by the Alcobendas City Council, the Local Police, and its Drone Unit, in collaboration with DJI Enterprise, brought together more than 200 specialists. Attendees primarily included agents from Security Forces and Corps and members of Emergency teams from across the country.
One of the most remarkable moments of the conference was a dual long-range remote operation. From the event hall in Alcobendas, attendees witnessed in real-time the piloting of a drone located near Melbourne, Australia, over 17,000 kilometers away, and another in Fuxin, China, over 9,300 kilometers away. This demonstration highlighted the potential of remote management in professional security and emergency applications.
The event was inaugurated by Marta Martín, First Deputy Mayor of Alcobendas, and attended by Pedro Antonio Ruiz Escobar, General Director of the 112 Security and Emergency Agency of the Community of Madrid. The closing of the conference was conducted by Carlos Rodrigo, Councilor for Security and Emergencies of Alcobendas.
Throughout the session, various workshops were held, focusing on technological capabilities, remote operation, fleet management, and team coordination. Real-world case studies were also presented, such as the recent operation by the National Police during the Fallas de Valencia and industrial applications in large corporations. With this initiative, Alcobendas establishes itself as a benchmark for innovation and the analysis of the impact of drone technologies in critical areas such as Public Security, Civil Protection, and Emergency management.
