Vigo, July 6, 2026. Servitalent, a boutique executive search and interim management consultancy based in Vigo, has closed the first semester of 2026 operating 26 interim management missions, the best figure in its history and a +44% growth compared to the same period in 2025. The data confirms an underlying trend: interim management has ceased to be perceived as an exceptional and reactive resource to become a strategic alternative with which companies incorporate high-level management capacity immediately and flexibly.
"The numbers for this semester tell us more than just a good commercial result: they tell us that the market has matured," states Alberto Fernández Varela, CEO and founding partner of Servitalent. "More and more business owners, boards, and management committees understand that they do not need a permanent, long, and expensive hire to solve a critical challenge. They need the right executive, with the right mandate, for the right amount of time. That is exactly what interim management solves."
The industrial sector, engine of demand
The bulk of the growth comes from the industrial sector, which continues to lead the hiring of interim executives in Spain. The missions closed by Servitalent in the semester are concentrated in areas of operational transformation, general management, restructuring, and expansion, where the speed of incorporation—an executive integrated in a matter of days—and the focus on results make the difference compared to traditional consulting or permanent selection processes.
"The industry is undergoing transformation processes that do not allow for six-month waits to incorporate an executive," points out Fernández Varela. "The interim manager does not come to recommend: they come to execute and be accountable for the results from the first day."
From large companies to SMEs
The most relevant data of the semester is who is hiring. If interim management was born associated with large corporations, today its adoption is accelerating more strongly in small and medium-sized industrial enterprises, the backbone of the Spanish and Galician productive fabric.
"SMEs are precisely the ones that extract the most value from this formula," explains the CEO of Servitalent. "They do not have the capacity to add a top-level executive to their staff for a specific project, but they can incorporate one temporarily to lead a transformation, professionalize a function, or face a succession. It is access to top-tier senior talent with a variable and controlled cost. That is the change in mentality we are seeing, and the one that explains our figures."
Galicia: origin and reference
Servitalent began its journey in Galicia in 2014, being one of the pioneering firms to introduce and disseminate interim management in the Spanish market. More than a decade later, the company has become a benchmark in the discipline and observes in its home community one of the most dynamic markets of the semester, with a weight of 14 missions / 54% of the activity concentrated in Galician companies, especially in the industrial field.
"That a firm born in Vigo leads this discipline says a lot about the potential of the Galician business fabric," concludes Fernández Varela. "Galicia has a demanding, competitive, and internationalized industrial sector, and is increasingly aware that management agility is a competitive advantage. We grew with that fabric and remain committed to it."
