Unemployment in Usurbil Decreases in March, but Rises Among Women

The municipality recorded 203 unemployed individuals in March, six fewer than the previous month, although the number of unemployed women increased.

Unemployment trends in Usurbil have fluctuated in recent months, with 203 individuals registered as unemployed in March, a decrease of six from the previous month, despite a slight increase in the number of unemployed women.

According to the latest data released by the State Public Employment Service, the municipality of Usurbil recorded 203 unemployed people in March. This figure represents a decrease compared to the 209 unemployed registered in February, and also a slight reduction when compared to 204 in January and 205 in December. The last time the number of unemployed was below 200 was in November, with 196 individuals.
This reduction in unemployment was not exclusive to Usurbil, as a similar trend was observed at the regional level and across Gipuzkoa. In the Beterri-Buruntza region, the number of unemployed decreased from 2,907 to 2,866, while in Gipuzkoa, it fell from 28,428 to 28,414. The reduction was more pronounced in the region than in the province as a whole.
From a gender perspective in Usurbil, male unemployment decreased from 98 to 90 between February and March, contributing to the overall decline. However, the number of unemployed women saw a slight increase, rising from 111 in February to 113 in March. Regarding contracts, more than 130 contracts were registered for men in March, and fewer than 115 for women. In total, 242 contracts were formalized in the municipality, with 129 of them being temporary.
The number of registered contracts also increased last month in Usurbil, as well as in the region and in Gipuzkoa. In Beterri-Buruntza, 1,551 contracts were registered in February and 1,768 in March. In Gipuzkoa, the figure rose from 15,807 to 18,798 during the same period.
