The Port of Bilbao, a crucial barometer for the Bizkaia economy, has successfully reversed its negative trend from the first two months of the year, showing significant growth in March despite a complex international environment.

Traffic at the Port of Bilbao increased by 2.4% in the first quarter of the year. This is a significant improvement, especially considering that a 1% decline was recorded between January and February, signaling a positive shift for one of Bizkaia's main economic indicators.
Last month, all types of goods saw an increase, but the primary driver of this recovery is attributed to Muskiz. The activity of Petronor accounts for a large portion of the port's operations. Liquid bulk, which also includes natural gas arriving at the Bay of Bizkaia, makes up nearly 65% of the activity in the docks of Santurtzi and Zierbena.
In this sector, heavily impacted internationally by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, activity surged by 22.5% in March. This rebound has broken the year's initial trend, opening up a more favorable outlook for the port.
