The Ekiola Aiara energy cooperative will hold informative meetings next Wednesday at the Refor industrial estate in Amurrio and at the Apill association's headquarters in Llodio, targeting residents and businesses in the region.

During these sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the initiative's details and clarify any questions they may have about joining the cooperative. Ekiola Aiara is a non-profit consumer cooperative, located in an industrial park ceded by the Amurrio City Council.
The cooperative features 2,064 panels of 610 Wp and five electric vehicle charging points distributed throughout the region, specifically in Llodio, Amurrio, Arespalditza, Luiaondo, and Okondo. This initiative is aimed at those who live or have a business in Aiaraldea, including residents, merchants, small and medium-sized enterprises, and primary sector agents.
The promoters have emphasized that being a member of the cooperative offers several advantages, such as consuming 0-kilometer green energy produced in the region. Furthermore, there is no need to process licenses or permits, nor worry about maintenance, and no changes are required to the installation of the home or business.
Ekiola Aiara has also highlighted the economic benefits of being a consumer partner. Residents can receive 15% tax deductions. Additionally, following the approval of Royal Decree Law 07/2026, ratified on March 25, 2026, in the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Ekiola Aiara falls within the collective self-consumption modality. This means that partners located in the nearby area can obtain additional economic advantages, achieving savings of between 30% and 50% on their electricity bill.
Regarding energy prices, the promoters have indicated that the average price during solar hours in the first year will be approximately 29 euros/Mwh (excluding charges, taxes, and tolls). The project's estimated useful life is 30 years.
