Construction of the Labraza wind farm progresses with blade transport

The eight-turbine project is expected to be operational by the end of the year with 40 MW capacity.

The company Aixeindar has begun transporting blades for the Labraza wind farm, where eight 200-meter-tall wind turbines are being installed.

The Aixeindar company, a joint venture between Iberdrola and the Basque Energy Board, is developing the project in the Labraza mountain range. The facility will consist of eight 200-meter turbines with a total production capacity of 40 MW.
Construction began in November 2025, and this week marked a new phase with the transport of the first 72-meter-long blades. The plan involves moving two blades daily to the Marañón mountain ridge, aiming to complete the transport process by early September.
Once all components are positioned on their bases, assembly will commence. According to the developers, the turbines are expected to be operational and generating energy before the end of the year.
The project has faced opposition from various social groups and local representatives, who have raised concerns regarding potential impacts on biodiversity and the natural environment, as well as the perceived lack of public consensus.
