Bilbao will host this international gathering on May 27 and 28, bringing together institutional representatives, industry leaders, technology centers, universities, and investment agents. The event will take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Barakaldo, aiming to foster cooperation, innovation, and the generation of shared solutions.
The forum is consolidating its position as a key event for the sector amidst economic, technological, and social transformation. Food is increasingly vital for competitiveness, health, and the sustainability of the development model. This space is crucial for sharing knowledge, forging alliances, and anticipating strategic decisions.
“"Food is a strategic issue for the country, and spaces like Food 4 Future allow us to share knowledge and move together towards a stronger, more collaborative, and secure food model."
The Department's participation in Food 4 Future 2026 is part of its strategy to boost the Basque agri-food industry and its commitment to applied innovation. The summit is structured around four main pillars: the increase in production costs and supply chain uncertainty; the geopolitical dimension of food and its market impact; consumer transformation, with greater demands and new consumption priorities; and innovation as a strategic lever linked to science, data, and industrial scaling capacity.
The Basque Government emphasizes that such initiatives reinforce the strategy to consolidate a more competitive, sustainable, and locally rooted food model, capable of generating economic value, quality employment, and new development opportunities.
