The agreement was formalized at the Basurto University Hospital and is part of the 2025-2032 Healthcare Infrastructure and Equipment Program. This operation, starting with an initial tranche of 250 million euros, is part of a broader 1.6 billion euro strategic plan.
Investments will focus on upgrading key facilities, including the Galdakao-Usansolo, Donostia, Cruces, and Txagorritxu university hospitals, as well as the construction of the new Tolosa hospital. The initiative aims to ensure high-quality, resilient, and technologically advanced healthcare.
In Primary Care, the plan includes building 21 new health centers and renovating eight others. Additionally, significant funding will be allocated to state-of-the-art clinical equipment, such as a new proton therapy unit for advanced cancer treatment.
“"The Basque Government and the European Investment Bank join paths with a shared goal: to provide all citizens of Euskadi with the best healthcare infrastructure and equipment."
