The public company Arabat has awarded the contract to the temporary joint venture Autopistas-Gertek-Altuna y Uría for the implementation of the new toll system on the AP-68 highway, with an investment of 37.2 million euros, excluding VAT.

The contract includes all necessary construction work for the new system and the installation of all technological equipment. Additionally, it covers the development of a unified commercial backoffice for both the AP-68 and other high-capacity roads to be implemented in the future.
This backoffice will facilitate integrated management of traffic on high-capacity roads, encompassing billing, collection, user support, claims management, and financial control. The awarded company will also be responsible for the management of the entire operating system for the first five years.
The winning company will have a period of 14 months to prepare the project and an additional 50 weeks to execute all the works. The new system will be implemented in phases to conduct necessary tests and fully guarantee its reliability and functionality.

"The General Deputy assured that during this legislature, the AP-68 highway toll would be reduced by more than half."

General Deputy
In recent years, calls for the gratuity of the AP-68 highway have increased. The AP-68 free platform was created in 2021, and various initiatives have been carried out since then. The main provincial authority, for its part, assured that during this legislature, the AP-68 highway toll would be reduced by more than half.
