The Roses-Cap de Creus Business Association, representing over 200 entrepreneurs and approximately 5,000 jobs, has released the conclusions of the "Xerrades per a la Revolució Turística 2.0" (Talks for the Tourism Revolution 2.0). This document, presented at the Hotel Terraza in Roses, outlines a roadmap with 26 priority action lines for the municipality's future, covering five main areas: accommodation, commerce, urban planning, training, and mobility.
The association's president, Miquel Gotanegra, emphasized that the document is a concrete action plan, not mere theory, and advocated for the active role of the business community in shaping Roses' future. He highlighted the need for "bold decisions" regarding mobility and sustainability, calling for infrastructure such as cycle lanes and a reduction in private vehicle dependency to create "a Roses more designed for people, with fewer cars, a smaller carbon footprint, and a higher quality of life".
These talks follow up on previous initiatives from 2018-2019, which generated around thirty proposals for the municipality, many of which have been implemented. The new conclusions focus on adapting to regulations for tourist accommodations, transparency in tourist taxes, appropriate urban planning, and strengthening local commerce.
In terms of mobility, improvements to public transport, reduced private car use, and the completion of pending infrastructure like cycle lanes are requested, along with better connections to natural spaces. Regarding training and employment, the aim is to strengthen the link between educational institutions and businesses to retain and connect local talent with the tourism sector's needs.
The event featured participation from various experts and professionals in the sector, including Marian Muro, Luis Falcón, Albert Gómez, Gemma Canalias, Elisabet Cirici, David Caselles, Assumpció Cullell, Àlex Gilabert, and José Antonio Donaire, who advocated for tourism quality on the Costa Brava and preserving the territory's identity. Institutional representatives such as the mayor of Roses, Josep Maria Martínez, councilor Fèlix Llorens, and deputy Joan Plana were also present.
