This donation will enable the preservation and accessibility of significant graphic documentation of Reus's history, with a particular focus on trade fairs, business activities, and the city's urban transformation. A substantial portion of the material comes from the historic photographic company Niepce, closely linked to Reus's cultural and social life.

The archive includes images from the early Trade Fairs at the Mercat Central, the era of the Estació del Nord, and the inauguration of the Palau de Fires attended by President Josep Tarradellas. It also documents spaces and urban sculptures originally created for the Fair.

One of the initial projects will be an exhibition at ExproReus dedicated to the 1966 Trade Fair, coinciding with its 60th anniversary. That year, a fire damaged the venue at Passeig de Mata, but the fair was reopened in just over 24 hours, a testament to the city's collective mobilization.

The archive's processing will be carried out in phases. In this first stage, 3,750 images will be digitized and 1,500 photographs catalogued to expedite their preservation and public access. The Councillor for Culture, Daniel Recasens, explained that the analysis of the material will allow for "the construction of a coherent historical narrative".

The Councillor for Economic Promotion, Josep Baiges, highlighted that the visual archive "is much more than a collection of images", as it represents "a visual narrative of over eight decades of economic and social transformation in Reus". He emphasized that the donation preserves "a collective memory" that helps understand the past and showcase the city's business, commercial, and trade fair activities.

The presentation also served to advocate for the role of CIMIR as a reference point for preserving Reus's graphic heritage, underscoring the cataloguing, digitization, and contextualization work carried out by the centre's technical team.
