The province of Lleida shows a temporary employment rate of 10.6%, surpassing the Catalan average of 9.8%, according to Idescat data from last March.

This employment reality is not uniformly distributed across the territory. Mountain regions are most affected by precariousness, with Pallars Sobirà leading at 14.5% temporary employment. It is followed by Jussà with 13.2% and Alta Ribagorça with 12.6%. These figures reflect a strong dependence on tourism and sectors like hospitality, where hiring is seasonal.
In contrast, the Aran Valley stands out with the lowest levels of temporary employment, 8.3%, thanks to a more diversified tourism model. Other regions with lower temporary employment rates include Pla d'Urgell (8.8%), Noguera, Solsonès, and Urgell (all at 9.8%). In these areas, the economy is more diversified, and the industrial sector, which offers greater stability, holds more weight.
Regarding large Catalan cities with over 50,000 inhabitants, the capital of Segrià ranks third with the highest temporary employment rate, reaching 12%. Only Girona (12.4%) and Tarragona (12.2%) surpass it. Furthermore, Lleida is the second city with the highest seasonality in female employment, at 14%, just behind Girona.
The gender gap in temporary employment is significant in the province. Women in Lleida show a temporary employment rate of 12.7%, much higher than the 8.6% recorded among men. This difference highlights greater precariousness in female employment, often linked to sectors such as services or commerce, which are more prone to short-term or seasonal contracts.
