The Palau de Vidre in Lleida hosted a session of the Economic and Social Council where the city's potential to attract new industrial investments, particularly in energy and technology sectors, was underscored.

The ordinary session of the Economic and Social Council (CES) of Lleida, promoted by the City Council, was attended by Jaume Baró, Secretary of Business and Innovation of the Department of Business and Labour, who highlighted the city's importance in Catalonia's industrial strategy. Baró presented the Industrial Land Report, part of the National Pact for Industry, and pointed out land availability as a key asset for Lleida, with objectives such as the expansion of the Segre industrial estate and the Torreblanca project.
Energy supply was identified as crucial for attracting high-consumption industries. Efforts are underway to ensure it across all industrial land in Lleida, including a reinforcement request to Redeia. Strategic projects will receive energy based on their value, not on a first-come, first-served basis. Baró mentioned recent major investments, such as those by Volvo and Nipro, and a third one about to materialize, as evidence of Lleida's leadership.
The Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, emphasized full alignment with the Government to jointly plan the city's industrial land and negotiate with investors, prioritizing sectors with high knowledge demand to strengthen the university ecosystem. Miguel Luis Lapeña Cregenzán, Deputy Director of City and Culture Promotion, presented the results of Invest in Lleida, with 25 projects and 215 million euros attracted, including Lleida Truck Center and Nipro.
The Municipal Ordinance for Innovation Spaces was presented to consolidate the technology sector in three strategic areas: the AgroBioTech Park, the Agronomists Campus, and the future Health Park. Designated projects will receive preferential support and reduced municipal processing times.
The study on trade evolution in Lleida (2022-2026), presented by professor Jaume Macià Amorós, analyzed 6,128 ground-floor premises, of which 70% are active, mainly services (66%). Finally, the railway mobility study for the Lleida-Montsó line was discussed, proposing a commuter service that would reopen historic stations and could attract between 700,000 and 900,000 users annually.
