This figure represents a 7% increase compared to the previous year, with an average of 67 frauds per day. The defrauded energy exceeded 486 GWh, an amount equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 140,000 households.
52% of the stolen energy comes from industries, businesses, and large consumers, including a growing number of illegal indoor cannabis plantations. These plantations are a particularly intense problem in Catalonia and Andalusia, according to the company. Only 5% of the frauds correspond to small domestic supplies.
Regarding the modalities, almost 60% of Catalan cases were direct connections without a prior contract, while the remaining 40% occurred in installations with legal but manipulated supply.
At the state level, e-distribución closed 72,700 files for network manipulations in 2025, the highest figure in the last five years. Between 2021 and 2025, the company has recovered more than 3,750 GWh, an amount comparable to the annual consumption of over one million households.
Indoor marijuana plantations account for 26% of all energy recovered in frauds over the last five years. In 2025 alone, the electrical installations feeding approximately 1,850 of these plantations were dismantled, with a recovery of 182.7 million kWh. These operations are always carried out in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
An average indoor plantation can consume as much electricity as about 80 homes, generating a significant impact on local networks. The high volume of fraud can saturate installations, even though the available electrical power in some areas can be up to five times the legally contracted amount.
The company has also highlighted the risks to its employees, with nearly a hundred incidents of physical violence recorded in the last four years, including 58 assaults during dismantling work in 2025 alone.
