Vodafone Empresas gathered local entrepreneurs and representatives from the Government of the Canary Islands in Tenerife to detail its infrastructure deployment plan and the impact of 5G on the digital transformation of the archipelago's productive sector.
The company announced its forecast to reach 97% of the Canarian population with 5G coverage throughout this year, a milestone that positions the Canary Islands as one of the territories with the highest penetration of advanced mobile technology in Spain.
Key aspects of the 5G network expansion and the importance of the RING submarine cable project were shared. This is a strategic infrastructure designed to enhance the digital connectivity, capacity, and resilience of the Islands.
“"Technology is the engine that will allow our companies—from tourism to logistics—to compete on equal terms in the global market."
The event discussed how low latency, increased network capacity, and improved connectivity will drive new use cases in areas such as telemedicine, industry 4.0, and smart tourism, sectors considered fundamental for the modernization of Canarian businesses.
Vodafone maintains a continuous plan to expand its 5G network across the Archipelago's municipalities, bringing this technology to major urban centers, smaller towns, industrial parks, tourist areas, and strategic enclaves.
This deployment will provide users, companies, and administrations with higher browsing speeds, lower latency, and a more advanced connectivity experience, serving as a foundation for the development of innovative digital services in key sectors for the Canarian economy.
The operator reinforces its commitment to the digital transformation of the Canary Islands, contributing to improved business competitiveness and the modernization of public services. Vodafone's network registered the best performance in the Islands during the power outage on April 28, 2025.
The agreement signed last year between Vodafone España and Canalink to have dedicated fiber optics in each of the two new submarine cables of the RING project will ensure the necessary capacity and resilience to confidently face the digital transformation in the coming years.
Through these efforts, Vodafone Empresas consolidates the role of the Canary Islands as a digital hub in the Atlantic and a territory prepared for the technological challenges of the new economy.
