During the first session after his re-election, president Santiago Sesé proposed identifying the specific problems of each business sector. The goal is to transform business contributions into concrete measures that boost the provincial economy.
Sesé explained that this work will serve to reflect the challenges companies face, the proposed solutions, and the expected timelines for their implementation. "The first step is to know what problem we want to solve," he stated, emphasizing the importance of bringing together representatives from diverse activities to identify common issues and seek joint solutions.
The agenda resulting from this process will allow the Chamber to communicate business demands to public administrations and to monitor the measures adopted and executed.
The president also urged the plenary to look beyond growth figures, questioning how the province wishes to grow in the coming years. He advocated for a "transformation" of the economic model, with a strong focus on innovation, digitalization, and the promotion of private investment through solid public-private partnerships.
Sesé described the current economic situation, noting that while pre-pandemic growth levels have been surpassed, the market is in a stabilization phase with inflationary pressure on key costs such as energy and transport. He also pointed to internal obstacles hindering productive development, such as bureaucracy and administrative complexity.
He denounced that the slowness of procedures and the lack of coordination among administrations delay public and private investments, affecting economic activity and job creation.
Finally, Santiago Sesé reaffirmed the institution's commitment to all the islands of the province, ensuring that the new work agenda will include the specific needs of the non-capital islands to guarantee the economic structuring of the territory.
