Following the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, Europe has become more aware of the importance of securing its resources. So-called critical minerals are considered by the industry to be a key component for the country's industrial future.
At the II Northwest Forum, the crucial role of this region in new mining was emphasized. Experts such as Nuria Menéndez, General Director of Orovalle and CFO of Orvana, and Pablo Marco-Gardoqui, General Director of Grupo Minersa, agreed that the main challenge for companies today is to secure the necessary "political determination."
This political drive is vital for developing new mining projects and for maintaining existing operations, thereby ensuring the supply of these essential resources for European industry.
