Compared to the same month of the previous year, registered unemployment decreased by 5,070 people, marking an interannual improvement of 3.5%. The reduction in unemployment was greater among women than men. In August, there were 2,856 more women employed compared to 1,300 men.
By age group, unemployment increased among those under 25 years old, with a 6.9% rise and 483 more unemployed individuals. In contrast, for those over 25 years old, there was a 3.4% decrease compared to July, with 4,639 more people employed.
Data by economic sectors shows a generalized decrease in unemployment across all of them. Regarding the distribution by islands, unemployment fell on all islands except for El Hierro, where it increased by 0.5%. La Gomera experienced the largest decrease, with a reduction of 12.4%.
