Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife Records Significant Growth in First Quarter

The Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife concluded the first quarter of the year with a remarkable increase in passenger and cargo traffic, exceeding 3.1 million tons and 937,000 travelers.

During the first three months of the year, the port infrastructure of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has solidified its strategic position, showing growth in key areas such as passenger movement, cruise traffic, and vessel bunkering.
The total number of passengers saw a 4.45% increase between January and March, representing an additional 39,952 visitors compared to the previous year. Within this figure, the cruise passenger segment stood out with an 11.89% rise, reaching 559,493 tourists arriving in the capital of Tenerife, 59,454 more than in the previous period. Total cruise traffic also grew by 6.83%, registering 172 calls.
Regarding cargo movement, fuel bunkering was particularly significant, with a 49.55% increase. 226,979 tons were supplied to 922 vessels, which is 134 more ships than in the same period last year.
Furthermore, liquid bulk cargo showed a 27.74% growth in March, reaching 335,434 tons, while solid bulk cargo increased by 1.78% compared to last year, with 42,968 tons transported. The number of merchant vessel calls also rose by 7.2%, totaling 2,188 units, of which 762 correspond to the month of March.
These positive results underscore the port's relevance in the economic and commercial activity of the Canary Islands archipelago, reaffirming its role as a driver of development.
