This fifteenth edition of Fimar marks a milestone by extending its focus beyond the Atlantic, incorporating the French overseas region of Martinique. In previous years, the fair had concentrated on maritime-linked cities in the Atlantic area, but Martinique's inclusion opens a new perspective for cooperation between island territories.
The choice of Martinique is due to its strong commitment to the blue economy. This Caribbean island, whose maritime area doubles its land territory, faces the challenge of managing its marine resources sustainably. Its priorities include coral reef conservation, the promotion of renewable energies, and the development of sustainable tourism, all crucial aspects in the face of climate change challenges.
The event will not only focus on showcasing the latest trends in nautical, fashion, and sports sailing, but also on promoting cooperation among Outermost Regions (ORs).
The fair will also highlight initiatives such as the Twinned by Stars project, which seeks to enhance the competitiveness of maritime tourism in the Outermost Regions (ORs), while protecting marine biodiversity and promoting astrotourism. The collaboration between Gran Canaria and Martinique in this area will be a central point, demonstrating how the sea and sky can be pillars for sustainable development.
Attendees can enjoy a diverse program including aquatic exhibitions, competitions, guided tours, and gastronomic and family activities. The registration period for exhibitors remains open, inviting more stakeholders from the marine and maritime sector to participate in this annual event.
