The application aims to improve the traceability of food supplies, reduce administrative times, and ensure compliance with food safety and sustainability regulations. It is adapted to the specific needs of these centers, where products have primarily educational value.
The project enables the digitalization of key processes such as reception, storage, distribution, and inventory control of goods. Furthermore, it offers students the opportunity to train in the real-time management of purchases and storage in restaurant establishments.
“"The difference with other existing applications is that the design and functionalities here are adapted to the needs present in hospitality schools, where much of the raw material does not have economic return, as it is not put up for sale, but it does have educational value."
Coordinated by teacher David Escuder Pérez, the development was carried out by students of Web Application Development. 'Smart Economato' is expected to reduce errors, improve efficiency, and optimize resources, promoting digitalization in vocational training and the use of local organic products.
The Director General of Vocational Training and Special Regime Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, Carolina León, attended the project's presentation, highlighting its contribution to innovation and sustainability.
