Foreign affiliation in Madrid: record with 670,298 contributors in June

The Community of Madrid adds 49,329 foreign workers in the last year, an 8.89% increase, reaching historic figures.

Social Security in the Community of Madrid has reached a new record in June with an average of 670,298 foreign affiliates, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.89%.

In the last 12 months, the region has added 49,329 more foreign workers. The month-on-month growth compared to May was 1.82%, with an additional 12,000 affiliates. At the end of June, the total number of foreign affiliates stood at 614,000.
Of the total foreign affiliates, 53.02% (355,422) are men and 46.97% (314,874) are women. Regarding countries of origin, 28.83% (193,271) come from the European Union, while 70.21% (477,027) are from outside the EU.
By contribution regime, 79.85% (535,286) contribute to the General Social Security Regime. The sectors with the highest number of affiliates are Hospitality (92,018), Retail and Wholesale Trade (91,701), Administrative Activities (78,992), Construction (76,965), and Transport and Storage (45,583).
The Special System for Domestic Workers has over 53,100 foreign workers in the region (9.2%), the majority of whom are women (52,596), representing 95.5% of the total in this system. This sector has seen a year-on-year increase of 12.7% with 6,220 new workers.
Self-employed foreign affiliates in Madrid total 81,481 workers, with 486 new registrations in June. The Community of Madrid accounts for 19.47% of the total foreign workers affiliated in Spain.
Nationally, Social Security registered an average of 3,446,178 foreign affiliates in June, a historic record. The number of foreign workers has grown by 11.31% year-on-year. 44.5% of the employment created since the labor reform corresponds to foreign workers.
The regularization process for foreign nationals, initiated in late April, has boosted affiliation. As of June 30, 159,097 affiliates have registered as a result of this process, predominantly in the General Regime and with permanent contracts.
The sectors most benefiting from this regularization are Hospitality (38,776), Trade (20,195), Administrative Activities (19,327), and Construction (18,310).
Nationally, men represent nearly 2 million foreign affiliates (1,965,796) and women approach 1.5 million (1,480,382), making up 43% of the total. Morocco, Romania, and Colombia are the countries of origin with the highest number of contributors.
The contribution of foreign workers is particularly significant in sectors such as Hospitality (31.5%), Agriculture (28.9%), and Construction (25.9%). In the Special System for Domestic Workers, they represent 45.5%.
The high percentage of foreign workers with permanent contracts (87.8%) stands out, compared to 41.1% before the labor reform. The temporality rate for this group has fallen to 12.2%.
