Residents of Torredonjimeno can now benefit from next-generation mobile services, 4G and 5G, being implemented on the 800 and 700 MHz bands. This technological upgrade promises to significantly enhance mobile data speeds, optimize indoor coverage, and expand the geographical reach of the signal.
The main operators, Telefónica, Vodafone, and Orange, are carrying out the implementation process progressively in the town. The initiative aims to offer citizens high-speed mobile connections with improved indoor penetration and greater geographical coverage.
To ensure the compatibility of this new technology with Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), the entity Llega700 has been established by the operators. Its role is to resolve any potential interference with television signal reception resulting from this deployment.
This deployment aligns with Royal Decree 579/2019, which freed up the 694 to 790 MHz frequencies (previously used by DTT) for assignment to mobile operators. This process, known as the Second Digital Dividend, is underway across Spain.
The key advantages of this new mobile network include improved coverage in areas with complex topography and better penetration inside buildings. Furthermore, it facilitates the introduction of new services for businesses and public administrations, such as multimedia applications and video calls.
