The project, part of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley, maintains its annual production targets of 600,000 tons of ammonia. However, documentation published in the Official Gazette of the Andalusian Government (BOJA) includes specific changes regarding water management and the electrical evacuation infrastructure.
These modifications address observations received during the previous procedure. Key adjustments include a request to use surface water on a temporary basis until the San Roque-Los Barrios wastewater station is operational. Additionally, the power line connecting to the neighboring municipality of Los Barrios has been simplified, reducing its length from 1.9 to 1.11 kilometers.
The facility will be located north of the San Roque Energy Park and will be executed in two phases. Each phase will have a production capacity of 300,000 tons per year through electrolysis, utilizing both alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) technologies.
The total estimated budget for both phases is 3.067 billion euros, with additional investment allocated for electrical connections and water supply infrastructure. The construction period for each phase is estimated at 34 months, although the start of work remains subject to the completion of current administrative procedures.
