The City Council of Córdoba, through the Imdeec, reinforces support for local jewelry for its international projection, meeting with organizers of Vicenzaoro and backing the future Protected Geographical Indication.

The Municipal Institute for Economic Development and Employment of Córdoba (Imdeec) reaffirms its commitment to the international projection and competitiveness of the Cordoban jewelry sector, which accounts for 60% to 70% of national production. The president of Imdeec and first deputy mayor, Blanca Torrent, met with spokespersons from Vicenzaoro, Europe's largest international jewelry trade fair, to explore collaborations and promote the local jewelry brand.
This strategic meeting with the organizers of the Italian fair, a benchmark event with over 1,300 exhibiting firms, aims to showcase the strength of a local industry that comprises nearly 1,000 companies and generates around 15,000 jobs. A key pillar is the support for the future Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) for Córdoba jewelry, which would make it the first in Spain and the EU to obtain this official origin protection mark.
Imdeec's direct economic support to workshops is channeled through the municipal program 'Crece e Innova,' covering internationalization and trade fair attendance expenses. In 2024, 67 companies in the sector benefited from 519,594.67 euros, and in 2025, another 69 companies received 505,215.57 euros for their development and expansion.
Blanca Torrent emphasized the need for Cordoban jewelry to "open up to the world and decisively consolidate its global positioning." She noted that, in addition to direct aid for fairs, the meeting with Vicenzaoro is a strategic step to "jointly project the immense Cordoban talent."
Isidoro García-Escribano, president of the Provincial Association of Jewelers, Silversmiths, and Watchmakers of Córdoba San Eloy, positively assessed these actions, calling the support from the City Council of Córdoba and Imdeec "fundamental." He highlighted that the meeting with Vicenzaoro "demonstrates that administrations truly believe in Cordoban jewelry as a strategic engine and a unique identity seal."
The next milestone for this external promotion will be the MadridJoya fair, at Ifema, from September 24 to 27, 2026. The City Council of Córdoba will have its own 94-square-meter stand. This presence consolidates the model initiated in 2025, when the City Council participated collectively with the Jewelry School, the Provincial Association of Jewelers San Eloy, and the Jewelry Park of Córdoba.
