The Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation (CHG) has authorized a new concession for the irrigation of 434.25 hectares of olive groves in Aguilar de la Frontera and Montilla (Córdoba) using regenerated water.

The resolution, which authorizes an annual volume of 503,730 m³, is based on the regenerated water production from the Wastewater Treatment Plant (EDAR) of Aguilar de la Frontera. The concession will have a validity of 20 years, subject to compliance with current sanitary and environmental regulations.
This measure is part of the 20 cubic hectometers (hm³) reserve for regenerated water included in the previous Hydrographic Plan (2015-2021), promoted by the CHG to encourage water reuse in the basin. To date, nearly 17 hm³ have been allocated, benefiting 20 irrigation communities.
Currently, there is another reserve of 20 hm³ provided for in the Current Hydrographic Plan. The CHG has already established the regulatory bases and valuation criteria for this new phase, aligned with the Schema of Important Topics (ETI) for the 2028-2033 cycle.
It is anticipated that the concessions related to this second reserve will be processed during the second half of 2026, once the definitive version of the ETI is approved.
