An extra virgin olive oil from the Baena Protected Designation of Origin has achieved third place in the renowned Mario Solinas Quality Awards, organized by the International Olive Council (IOC).

This accolade once again places Baena oils among the global elite of the sector. The recognition, awarded in the 2026 edition, went to the oil produced by Olivarera Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, S.C.A., from Baena (Córdoba), in the medium green fruitiness category.
The international jury highlighted the sensory balance, aromatic complexity, and persistence on the palate of the product, key characteristics in the technical evaluation of the competition. This year's competition saw the participation of 122 oils from various producing countries, underscoring the significance of this award in a highly competitive market.

"This award reflects the sector's commitment to excellence, innovation, and respect for a unique product like our extra virgin olive oil."

The Baena Designation of Origin has valued this award as further support for the continuous efforts of farmers, oil mills, and cooperatives to offer the highest quality oils. It was also emphasized that such international recognitions are crucial for strengthening the image of Baena EVOO in foreign markets, highlighting its uniqueness and origin.
The Mario Solinas Awards, organized annually by the International Olive Council, recognize the best extra virgin olive oils from the northern hemisphere, classified by categories according to the intensity of their fruitiness. The official awards ceremony will take place on June 18 at the IOC headquarters in Madrid, bringing together producers from around the world.
