These files, representing about 11% of the 28,000 processed in the city, include individuals, businesses, and homeowner associations. Regulations stipulate a 5% surcharge on the receipt amount for those who do not collect their notification from the Treasury Department.
“"We wanted to publicly inform about these files, with the aim of trying to get people up to date, because despite all the publicity we have done, we still have such a significant number of unresolved cases."
The council explained that, despite various attempts to communicate the fee collection, personal delivery was not possible in all cases. Therefore, municipal technical services processed the publication of the corresponding lists in BOE issues 52 and 58, deeming the notifications delivered.
If affected individuals or groups do not pay the debt after this process, it will proceed to enforcement, which entails a 20% surcharge on the receipt amount and the possibility of seizing bank accounts. Furthermore, having debts with the Administration can be detrimental when applying for subsidies.
Individuals included in these files can go to the Treasury Department, located at number 6, Josep Ramon Batalla street, to collect their notification. They must present their DNI for individuals or CIF for legal entities. Once the notification is collected, no further procedures will be necessary.
The governing team recalled that the City Council applied “sensitivity” criteria in implementing the waste fee, allowing a period of nearly two months for citizens to request bonuses. The current objective is to prevent residents from incurring costs higher than strictly necessary. The lists will also be made public in the news section of the municipal website.
