This investment is part of a policy to support the local business fabric, which has led the City Council to forgo 1.5 million euros in revenue over the last five years due to the bonus on the Property Tax (IBI) for economic activities deemed of special municipal interest.
“"This is a unique measure not only in the province of Castellón, but also in the Community, and I tell you that I have not found another like it in the rest of Spain."
The concession proposal, approved in plenary, will benefit 344 establishments, including 124 hospitality businesses, 127 retail stores, 21 academies, 14 gyms, and 57 personal services. This measure represents an economic impact of 320,383 euros for the City Council, with an average IBI saving of 931 euros per business.
In addition to the IBI bonus, the council will allocate 200,000 euros for commercial vouchers and 110,000 euros in singular agreements with local associations, totaling over 600,000 euros of direct injection into local commerce.
“"We firmly believe in our commerce and our hospitality. A city without commerce is a city without life. I wish all institutions would take note."
In other news, the Public Services Councilor reported on the upcoming renovation of waste bins in the city center and a meeting with the sector during the summer to seek strategies to beautify the streets within the gardening contract.
The plenary also approved the twinning with the Aragonese municipalities of Torrehermosa and Alconchel de Ariza, strengthening historical and cultural ties around the figure of Saint Paschal Baylón. The official signing is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, within the framework of the Saint Paschal Fair and Festivities. Likewise, work is underway on twinning with Xàtiva to honor the figure of Carles Sarthou.
Finally, the city's adherence to the Health Network and the V Health Plan 2022-2030 of the Valencian Community was approved, and the execution of works to replace seven water communication stations was sanctioned, funded by the concessionaire company FACSA.
