Valencian Community Hotels: Stays and Travelers Increase Until June

The province of Castellón stands out with a notable increase in travelers, occupancy, and job creation in the hotel sector.

The Valencian Community closed the first half of 2026 with a 3.6% increase in hotel overnight stays, reaching 14.58 million, and a 2.5% rise in travelers, according to INE data.

The Valencian Community recorded 14.58 million hotel overnight stays in the first half of 2026, 3.6% more than the previous year, and hosted 4.79 million travelers, a 2.5% increase. Demand outpaced supply, with a 1.3% rise in hotel rooms and a 1% increase in employment. The international market was the main driver, with a 6.4% growth in foreign tourists and a 5.4% rise in overnight stays. The domestic market saw a slight decrease in travelers (-0.8%) but an increase in stays by 1.7%.
The province of Castellón showed positive performance, with over 594,000 travelers (+6%) and nearly 1.7 million overnight stays (+7%). Hotel supply grew by 3.1% and rooms by 3.2%, while average occupancy reached 55.9%, 3.7 points higher. In Castelló de la Plana, travelers decreased by 3.3%, but overnight stays rose by 2.2%, achieving an occupancy rate of 65.2%.
The city of València recovered to pre-DANA levels of 2025, exceeding one million travelers and seeing a 13% increase in overnight stays (2.6 million). In Alicante, travelers grew by 6.8%, overnight stays by 14%, and hotel employment by 5.4%. The Costa Blanca maintained increases close to 1% in travelers and overnight stays. Benidorm, despite exceeding five million overnight stays, registered a 2.4% decrease in hotel stays.
Hotel profitability generally improved, with increases in the average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR). València led with an average rate of 118.1 euros, although below the national average (122.2 euros). The British market was the main international source, with over 700,000 tourists and 3.1 million overnight stays.
