The city of València hosted the free distribution of over 500 punnets of Huelva strawberries, an initiative by the Union of Small Farmers (UPA) and the Department of Agriculture to promote national produce consumption and agricultural quality.

This Wednesday, the Valencian capital was the setting for an action supporting the Spanish primary sector. The Union of Small Farmers (UPA), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture of the València City Council, organized the distribution of over 500 punnets of strawberries from Huelva. The main objective is to encourage the consumption of national produce and highlight the quality and safety of the country's agricultural products.
The Councillor for Agriculture, José Gosálbez, attended the event and emphasized the importance of supporting Spanish farmers. He stated that defending the agricultural sector is not an option but an obligation, highlighting that the Spanish countryside is synonymous with quality, effort, and compliance with the most demanding regulations worldwide.

"Defending our farmers is not an option; it is an obligation. The Spanish countryside is synonymous with quality, effort, and compliance with the most demanding regulations in the world. Faced with unfair competition from third countries, we must unreservedly support our own."

During the day, in addition to the strawberry distribution, citizens were provided with information on the sanitary guarantees and quality standards met by this product. This initiative is part of an awareness campaign on responsible and local consumption.
Gosálbez stressed that initiatives like this are fundamental in the current context. According to his words, supporting national produce means protecting employment, guaranteeing food sovereignty, and ensuring that consumers have access to safe food. He warned that the work of our farmers cannot be questioned while products from abroad with fewer controls enter the market.
The councillor also defended the need to strengthen support policies for the agricultural sector. He assured that the València City Council will continue to support all initiatives that value individual effort, economic freedom, and the work of producers, considering that investing in the Spanish countryside is investing in the future of the economy.
