The Valencia Clóchina season has commenced with very positive expectations, anticipating a slight increase in commercialized volume and exceptional product quality, featuring more meat and a balanced flavor.

José Luis Peiró, president of the Association of Clóchineros of the Port of Valencia, highlighted during the official campaign presentation that abundant rainfall has been crucial. These precipitations have naturally enriched the sea, providing a large amount of nutrients that have allowed the Valencia Clóchina to develop its full character and offer a perfectly balanced organoleptic profile.

"An extraordinary campaign is expected, with a slight increase in commercialized volume and, above all, with an exceptional product that offers more meat and a wonderful bouquet this year."

This mollusk, considered a “zero-kilometer” product, is highly anticipated by both consumers and the restaurant sector, who see it as a symbol of the region's gastronomic identity. The campaign's inaugural event was held aboard a Boramar fleet catamaran, next to the clochinera rafts located at the mouth of Marina Port Valencia, replicating last year's format.
The presentation concluded with a tasting of Valencia Clóchina, accompanied by sparkling wines from the Association of Cava Producers of Requena and delicious treats from the Guild of Master Confectioners of Valencia. Attendees included Elena Picó, Deputy Director General of Agrarian Structures and Cooperativism of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries; Sergio Terol, president of the Academy of Gastronomy of the Valencian Community; and chef Raúl Magraner from Bon Aire restaurant, as well as members of the Port Authority and executives from major food distribution companies.
For this season, a production of approximately one thousand two hundred tons of this tasty mollusk is expected. The Valencia Clóchina can now be purchased in fishmongers, supermarkets, and large stores for home consumption, and enjoyed in numerous hospitality establishments. As a novelty, a new microwaveable tray format has been introduced, which is drip-free and extends the product's shelf life without additives or preservatives.
