The Valencia City Council, through València Innovation Capital, and Microsoft have signed an agreement to offer free online courses on artificial intelligence to the city's residents and public employees.

These classes will allow participants to acquire knowledge in AI and obtain an official certification after passing the corresponding exam. The main objective is to improve the employability of Valencians and democratize access to the digital skills that artificial intelligence requires today.

"Valencia decides today that no citizen will be left behind in the transformation that is changing the economy, work, and public services. Artificial intelligence is not just another tool: it is a change of model in the way administrations serve their neighbors."

the municipal official
The municipal official highlighted that Valencia becomes the first Spanish city to articulate free and simultaneous AI training for its civil servants and citizens. She emphasized that this is another step in the intelligent management of public services and insisted that access to these skills cannot be a privilege.
The agreement is part of the Microsoft Elevate Skilling initiative, a global program that seeks to train over 20 million people in artificial intelligence skills. Spain is one of the 21 countries selected to develop this plan, and Valencia joins other autonomous communities and city councils already part of this initiative.
The program offers two complementary training pathways. The first, AI for Social Entities, is aimed at Valencia City Council public employees and combines fundamental AI concepts with their practical application to public service. The second, AI Skills for Employability, is open to all citizens of the Valencian capital through the iavalencia4all.es platform.

"AI can only be truly transformative if it is accessible to everyone. Technology makes sense when it is for everyone, when it is inclusive."

the Director of AI Training at Microsoft
The Director of AI Training at Microsoft explained that until June 30, any person registered in Valencia can enroll in the course for citizens. After one hour of basic training, the user can access the full course, which can be completed over a year. Additionally, on June 17, a six-hour in-person training session with an instructor will be offered.
